Work Responsibilities

As the 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent, Amber is responsible for overseeing the 4-H program in Franklin County. Specifically, she is responsible for developing and implementing new educational programming for Franklin County youth; recruiting and training new and existing 4-H club leaders; recruiting and training counselors and volunteers for the Franklin County Junior 4-H camp; serving as camp director for the Franklin County Junior 4-H camp; working with and supervising interns; establishing partnerships with other youth serving agencies; and fundraising.

Work Experience

Amber began her career with Virginia Cooperative Extension in 1998 as an Extension Associate in Management, Housing, and Consumer Education (MHCE), on the Virginia Tech campus. In this role, she was responsible for working directly with MHCE Extension Specialists writing and revising Extension publications, assisting with the development and implementation of Agent In-Service training, as well as serving on the MHCE Leadership Team. In 2001, Amber moved to Franklin County where she began working as the Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent. In 2004, desiring an opportunity to work more with youth, Amber changed disciplines and began working as the 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent.
